The Temptation of Y’ehoshua of the devil in the wilderness
Matthew 4:1-11
Mark 1:12-13
Luke 4:1-13

And Y’ehoshua being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and immediately the Spirit drove him into the wilderness, and then was Y’ehoshua led up and by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him. Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights and when they were completed, he afterward hungered.
And when the tempter, the devil came to him, he said unto him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones that they be made (become) bread.”
But Y’ehoshua answered him and said “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”
Then the devil took him up into the holy city Jerusalem; and set him on a pinnacle of the temple and said unto him, “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here: for it is written, “He shall give his angels charge concerning you: and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest at any time you strike your foot against a stone.”
And then Y’ehoshua answering said unto him, “It is written again, it is said, “You shall not tempt the Lord your God.””
Again, the devil took him up, into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, in a moment of time; and the glory of them; and the devil said unto him “All this authority and all these things will I give you, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. And he said unto him, “All these things will I give you, if you therefore will fall down and worship me, all shall all be yours.” And Y’ehoshua answered and said unto him, “Get you hence behind me Satan: for it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.””
And then when the devil had completed every temptation, he departed from him for a season. And behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
